Hi, I'm Camilla Edwards

DVM, CertAVP, MRCVS

Founder of FOVU - First Opinion Veterinary Ultrasound

This is my Story

My name is Camilla, and I am passionate about small animal veterinary ultrasound at the first opinion level.

As a peripatetic veterinary ultrasonographer, I travel with my dog Pippi (a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) within 50 miles of Cambridge, teach ultrasound as a guest on IMV-imaging courses, and have a thriving Facebook community for First Opinion Small Animal Vets.

This website reviews all things ultrasound for general practice small animal vets by a small animal vet!

I became a veterinarian in 2006 and have worked all over East Anglia, and after spending a significant portion of my career in emergency and critical care, I earned my CertAVP in 2018.

The benefit of working night shifts was that I could practise my ultrasound skills on my old faithful Labrador Frida on the rare quiet shift (R.I.P.).

I spent the first three months of 2018 following the ultrasound department at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, seeing dozens of cases with them, and in April 2018, I took the plunge and started my own business, assisting First Opinion Small Animal Vets with all of their ultrasound requirements.

Pippi (pictured left) is my Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

She is currently 3 years old (December 2022) and she is fast becoming a superstar at ultrasound. She has been travelling with me on my peripatetic ultrasound jobs since she was 10 weeks old and has attended teaching sessions where she has fortunately behaved impeccably (not always the case at home!)
